Today:
Romans 5:1-11:
Hopeful Celebration | Our Hope In Him Does Not Disappoint
WHAT ARE THE REASONS WE SHOULD BE CELEBRATING ANYTHING?
- We Have Peace With God Through Our Lord Jesus Christ
- We Have Access By Faith Into This Grace In Which We Stand
- We Have Hope In Spite Of Our Afflictions For God Loves Us
- We Have Reason To Boast Over The Hope Of The Glory Of God
WE HAVE PEACE WITH GOD
Peace With God Through Faith | Therefore We Have Peace With God
We Have The Righteous Of God Living In Us
Through His Faithfulness
We Have Peace With God
Through Our Lord Jesus Christ
Being Therefore: Justified By Faith We Have Peace With God Through Our Lord Jesus ChristBeing Therefore: Justified By The Grace Of God Initiated By Faith
IT IS GRACE RATHER THAN FAITH THAT SAVES US
BUT FAITH MAKES IT POSSIBLE FOR US TO EXPERIENCE GRACE
We Have Peace With God Through Our Lord Jesus Christ
The Jews Had An Understanding Of Peace With God: SHALOM
Shalom Is More Than The Absence Of Hostility
Shalom Is The Well-Being, Prosperity, Or Salvation Of A Person
To Be Made Just Or Righteous Is To Be Made Not Guilty
Those Who Are Guilty Cannot Be Admitted Into God’s Presence
Those Who Have Been Justified Can
Christ Died For Our Sins While We Were Yet Sinners
We Are Justified By His Blood And By His Sacrifice
We Are Reconciled To God (Romans 5:8-10)
NOT ONLY PEACE BUT:
ACCESS:
WE HAVE ACCESS BY FAITH INTO THIS GRACE
Even Now Through Him
We Rejoice In The Hope Of God’s Glory
But Not Only That
We Even Rejoice In Our Problems
Because We Know That Trouble Produces Endurance
Access Means The Process Of Being Ushered Before A King
Access Means The Process Of Being Announced Before A King
Access Means The Right Or Opportunity To Address The Ruler
Jesus Has Us Into God’s Court
Jesus Has Made A Way For Us To Come Before God The Father
Jesus Has Made A Way For Us To Present Our Need To Him
His Grace:
Grace Is God’s Unmerited Favor Toward Humanity
Grace Is God's Unmerited Favor Toward His People
Grace Is Something We Hope For
Grace Is Something We Already Possess
Grace Is A Reality Even NOW For The Believer
GOD TAKES CARE OF OUR PAST (PEACE)
GOD TAKES CARE OF OUR PRESENT (ACCESS)
GOD TAKES CARE OF OUR FUTURE (HOPE)
NOT ONLY PEACE AND ACCESS BUT:
HOPE:
WE REJOICE IN HOPE OF THE GLORY OF GOD
We Have Done Nothing That Justifies Boasting
We Have A Reason To Boast Of What God Has Done For Us
Such Boasting Is A Proclamation Of His Generosity
Now, I Wish We Could Escape The Trials Of Life
Jesus Told Us Otherwise
For Believers:
Trials Work For Us Not Against Us
Trials Bring Us Closer To The Lord And Make Us More Like Him
What Is Our Hope ?
Hope Is God Taking Care Of Our Future
Hope Of The Glory Of God Is One Day We Will Share In His Glory
Hope Of The Glory Of God:
To Know That Suffering Works Perseverance;
To Know That Perseverance Works Proven Character
To Know That Proven Character Works Hope
To Know That Hope Does Not Disappoint
To Know That Hope Is Giving Comfort To Us
To Know That Hope Is God's Love Poured Our Into Our Hearts
We Know To Rejoice In Our Sufferings
Rejoice In Our Sufferings Because We Know How God Uses It:
Demonstrates The Selfless Quality Of Ministry
Demonstrates A Blessing In Every Hardship For Believers
Demonstrates God's Guarding Commitment To His Own
Demonstrates Spiritual Maturity To Face The Future
Demonstrates How Hope Does Not Disappoint Us
HOPE AND:
LOVE:
WE HAVE THE LOVE OF GOD AS CHRIST DIED FOR THE UNGODLY
As We Wait For Our Hope To Be Fulfilled
The Love Of God Is Poured Into Our Hearts
The Love Of God Is Offered To The Ungodly
The Love Of God Is Proven By Sending Christ To Die For Us
The Love Of God Will Sustain You Through Trials
The Love Of God Drives Us To Love One Another
The Love Of God Sent Christ Who Died For The Ungodly
At The Right Time Christ Died For The Ungodly
There Are At Least Three Ways That The Time Was Right:
• It Was The Right Time In History
Roman Peace Made It Possible For People To Travel
Roman Peace Made It Easier To Spread The Gospel.
• It Was The Right Time In Our Lives
We Were Needy Because Of Our Sin
We Were Needy For Reconciliation And Forgiveness
• It Was The Right Time To God
God Has A Plan For The Salvation Of The World
It Does Not Seem To Make Sense Christ Would Die For Sinners
Jesus Says, “Those Who Are Healthy Have No Need For A Physician, But Those Who Are Sick Do” (Matthew 9:12)
Why Would He Save People Who Do Not Need It?
Why Would He Not Save Sinners Who Need Of Salvation?
PEACE | ACCESS | HOPE AND LOVE | AND:
RECONCILIATION:
WE HAVE BEEN BROUGHT BACK INTO FELLOWSHIP WITH GOD
Even Though War Was Declared On God
(Romans 1:18–32)
God Did Not Declare War On Man
Instead God Sent His Son As The PeacemakerInstead God Sent Jesus That We Might Be Reconciled
We Will Be Now Justified By His Blood
We Will Be Saved From God’s Wrath Through Him
We Will Be Saved By His Life
We Will Be Saved By His Death
We Will Be Saved By His Resurrection
We Will Be Reconciled Back To God
We Were Enemies Of God | We Were In The Family Of Satan
We Will Be Enemies Of Satan | We Will Be In The Family Of God
Note
It Is God Who Reconciled Us
It Is God Who Restores Our Relationship With Him
It Is God Who Provides Atonement Through The Death Of His Son
It Is God Who Takes Initiative
- It Is Not Something We Could Have Done For Ourselves
- Our Unholiness Was Incompatible With The Holiness Of God
- It Is Appropriate To Boast About The Gift Of God’s Grace
- It Is Appropriate To Sing For Joy In Celebration Of Our Salvation
It is God Who Changes Our STATE With Him Through Sanctification
SO, NOW LET US EXAMINE THESE VERSES AGAIN: Romans 5:1-11:
We Have Peace With God Through Our Lord Jesus Christ
We Have Access By Faith Into This Grace In Which We Stand
We Have Hope In Spite Of Our Afflictions For God Loves Us
We Have Reason To Boast Over The Hope Of The Glory Of God
We Should Know That The Affliction Is Producing Endurance
We Should Know That Endurance Is Producing Character
We Should Know That Character Is Producing Hope
This Hope Does Not Disappoint Us
The Love Of God Has Been Poured Out In Our Hearts
The Holy Spirit Has Been Given To Us
The Lord Jesus Died For Ungodly People
The Lord Jesus Died To Reconcile And Save Us
But God Demonstrates His Own Love For Us
Because While We Were Still Being Sinners
Christ Died For Us
Something Even Greater Than Friendship Is OursWe Are At Peace With God
We Will Be Saved By The Life Of Christ Jesus
We Celebrate That God Sent Jesus Christ To Make Peace With Us
